Design Remarks

A selection of items for the kitchen. Made to both be functional for many years through careful timber selection and design, yet also beautiful enough to be admired on view for all to see.

Usage Comments

Unless otherwise stated on the product notes, it will have been treated with an appropriate finish. If it is a kitchen item, it will appreciate a bit of special care over its life as follows:

  • Try to wash it as soon as possible after use, &avoid soaking for a long period of time.
  • Please don’t put it in dishwashers or microwaves.
  • If finished with urushi, avoid prolonged periods of sunlight. Avoid using with metal utensils or metal scouring pads.

If you wish to re-treat your kitchenware, ensure the item is fully dry and then I recommend using Treatex hardwax Oil (sold in 30ml bottles, ideal for 2 or 3 items of treen). Wipe on using a paper towel, leave for 5minutes, then wipe off excess using a clean towel. Leave foe a week in a warm room before use so the oil fully cures.

If you see wear in an urushi finish, please contact me and I can provide a re-lacquering service.

How they were made?

All my items are turned on a pole lathe giving a unique finish to the items. No sandpaper has been used unless stated, what you see is what you get and is an indication of my skill as a maker.
