Description
A 7″ sycamore bowl turned from a crotch log using a pole lathe. The wood was sustainably sourced from Royal Fort Gardens in the middle of Bristol after the trunk rotted out. Perfect as a breakfast bowl. This was the first time I turned a crotch and has a lovely grain pattern in the bottom, and half the rim is a natural edge finish. I gave it a wiped black urushi finish to highlight the grain, but which has instead highlight a bit of tool wobble on the inside curve of the bowl which I really like. it was hard to get a smooth finish due to the grain changing direction all over the place down there!
Finished with a wiped black urushi finish. As such, this is best stored away from direct sunlight, and also avoid using metal cutlery with it.
