Ribbed eucalyptus cake plate

Description

This 6″ plate was made with a ribbed pattern knowing that the eucalyptus would also dry to a ribbed pattern in straight lines along the quartersawn growth rings. The resulting plate is an interesting piece of texture. The plate is finished with a black milk paint with an underlayer of red that will show through as the plate is used. The top finish is the food-safe Treatex hardwax oil. The wood came from Chew Magna as a result of a windblown tree.
