Shear-Cut Bowls (Various Designs)

Description

A series of ribbed holly bowls turned on a pole-lathe. I have imagined these bowls for sometime, ever since I made my holly bowl for the 52weeks52bowls project. I discovered that unseasoned holly is so waxy that I could let my hook tool achieve very fine detail and leave a very clean finish. These are very tricky cuts to do on the pole lathe, getting progressively harder as you edge up the bowl. These bowls are all about the tool marks, with each tool-stroke leaving a careful mark on the surface.
